Stuck on the Sunshine Coast

G'Day and I think that because I have all of this time up my sleeve I thought it best that I update what is happening to us and where we are.

Well we are on the Sunshine Coast at Glasshouse Mountains and we have been here for about 6 weeks due to the dreaded Corona Virus.

We left SA at the end of January 2020 and have been travelling ever since starting with Mildura and then down South to Geelong and surrounds.

On the way we stopped at Hay and then down to Deniliquin and across to Finley where we stayed for a night and then headed down through Tocumwal towards Shepparton. We stayed for a couple of days at Shepparton and did a trip across to Rochester to check out the scenery and things.

We left Shepparton and we decided to travel down to Geelong and have a look at what is happening down that way and we stayed for about three days here and explored the countryside.

The next phase of the trip was to leave Geelong and drive up through Albury and head to Wagga Wagga where we stayed put for a couple of days. During our stay at Wagga we did a trip to Griffith for a day and looked around before we drove back to Wagga.

We had a lovely time in Wagga and after our stay we decided to travel to Harden which is a little place off the beaten track on our way to Canberra where we would stay at my sons place. Harden was a hilly town to get to as it is in the mountains and we stayed the night in a showground which had brand new facilities and was very nice.

Once we got to Canberra we drove to my son's place and unhooked the van for a couple of days and had a nice time with the family.

We spent a day at the war memorial and were amazed at what they have done to it to upgrade and pay further respect for our veterans. It is absolutely amazing.

After Canberra we commenced our journey with the Central Coast and then Queensland in mind especially North Queensland. Little did we know.

Once we arrived at the Central coast we stayed at golf course at the rear of Maree's sisters place and once again unhooked the van  and settled in for  a number of days. We went clubbing and chasing raffles as well as dining out and had a very nice time during our stay.

During the time we were on the Central Coast we made a trip to Sydney and caught up with more of the family for lunch and a chin wag.

Then it all started. We were heading to the Gold coast where we would be staying at a Caravan Park for a couple of weeks before heading to Brisbane for a week and then the Sunshine Coast and the Nth Qld.

Up to now everything was fine and there was talk and news about the Corona Virus and its effects and what it was doing to people so we decided that we would like to head up to Cairns and wait it out up there.

We obviously did not understand how bad the situation with it was and commenced our journey north and wait out the crisis. Everything then happened so fast it was astonishing. Before we knew it the borders and travelling was stopped around Australia.

We had only driven to the Sunshine Coast at this stage and thought we should move rather quickly from here except we received an email form the caravan park that we were going to stay at telling us that they had closed their park and our reservation was cancelled.

We started to question ourselves on what to do next and did not have a clue. We decided to make a phone call to a family member who lived up here and asked if we could stay for a couple of days in our van in her yard and she said that we could.

The pandemic worsened and all travel was stopped and our good friend told us that we could stay as long as we wanted to and so here we are 6 weeks later still waiting to get to Nth Qld.

It appears that in about 2 weeks from now about 23rd May 2020 the caravan parks will reopen and we will be able to travel again. Here's hoping.

Once we get to Cairns we are hoping that the borders will reopen after that and we will be able to get to SA
